PETE'S TOFFEE TOPPED CAKE 
2 c. brown sugar, well packed
2 c. flour
1/2 stick soft butter
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk
1 egg
1 c. semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Blend brown sugar, flour and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Remove 1 cup and reserve to rest of mixture. Add the baking powder, salt, vanilla, milk and egg. Mix until smooth. Butter a 13"x9" cake pan, turn batter into pan, spread evenly. Sprinkle reserved crumbs on top, then sprinkle chocolate chips and walnuts over top. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
