2 sticks butter
1 c. water
2 c. sugar
2 c. & 2 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Add butter and water in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add sugar, flour and vanilla. Stir well with wire whisk or spoon. Do not use mixer. Add rest of ingredients. Mix well. Pour into 12 x 17 inch greased and floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Ice cake when it comes out of oven. 5 tbsp. buttermilk 3 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. nuts, chopped

Add buttermilk and butter. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat, add powdered sugar and vanilla and nuts. Mix well and pour on cake.

Instead of buttermilk you can sour milk with vinegar.
