BUTTER POUND CAKE 
1 1/2 c. butter
3 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
5 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tbsp. plus 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a tube pan.

Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the Crisco and eggs. Beat well. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the vanilla to the milk. Alternately add the dry ingredients in fourths and the milk in thirds to the butter mixture. Beat until batter is smooth. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees, then lower the oven to 325 degrees and bake 20 minutes more.
