HOLIDAY CINNAMON APPLES | |
6-8 York apples 1 c. "Red Hots" candies 1/2 c. white Karo syrup 2 c. white sugar 2 1/2 c. water Peel apples and cut into 1/8 inch sections and set aside. In a large Dutch oven, put all other ingredients in together and bring to a boil. When ingredients begin to boil, then cook on low until well dissolved. Pour apples into the cooked mixture. Boil for 15-20 minutes until apples absorb mixture. Turn off heat and let stand for 30 minutes. Then on low heat, cook apples until they have turned clear red and all the syrup has absorbed. Be Careful Not To Over Stir! An old family favorite. Serves 8-10 as a side dish. |
