GRANNY'S PICKLED BEETS 
3 lg. bunches beets
3 tsp. ground cloves
2 tbsp. whole cloves
3 c. vinegar
1 c. water
3 c. sugar

Cook beets until tender in boiling water; peel; slice or cut. Place all of the ingredients into a pot with the beets. Simmer slowly for 15 minutes. Beets can be canned or refrigerated.
