This is obviously po'folk sewage. Our Nanie (a domestic) would top our Eggs Benedict with nova lox on occasion. Is that similar? Just kidding!!! Loved this dish. Yours truly, PoBoy.

Great basic recipe. I sautéed half an onion in the butter then proceeded on with 2 cans tuna. Added about 1 cup cooked frozen peas and added some Nellie's pearl onions also. Also used celery salt and garlic powder to taste. Great!

I prefer 2 to 3 hard boiled eggs sliced or cut up, added to sauce before serving on toast.

I had it as a kid hundreds of times. We were poor and it was cheap. I am an onion fan so now I add them. You can add almost anything, bell peppers are great. Thanks for reminding me of this great old dish.

Remember having this a lot as a kid. (This, and beefaroni!). Instead of having it over toast, we had it over a pile of broken up Ritz crackers. Wasn't too bad!

A comfort food from my childhood as well. My mom always added a couple or few chopped hard boiled eggs to it. Yummy.

Good recipe however should be 3/4 tsp salt AND add a slice of melted cheese on toast before covering with sauce and garnish with sliced boiled egg on top!

It's also delicious with a little curry powder added in (regular yellow curry powder).

I learned to make this in cooking class 60 years ago. I have not eaten it in years but suddenly have a taste for it. It brings back so many memories of my life in high school. I will make it tomorrow for lunch and just reminence.

My husband asked me to make creamed tuna on toast. I had never heard of this before!! I found this recipe and made it as is. He said it tasted just like he remembered. I even liked it!! I'll make it again just as instructed. Thanks for something so simple and the nostalgic meal for my hubby!!
