NUTMEG CAKE 
2 c. sifted cake flour
2 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs, well beaten
1 c. buttermilk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans. Sift flour, nutmeg, baking powder, soda and salt.

In large bowl, cream butter and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add sugar, creaming until fluffy. Add beaten eggs 1/3 at a time beating after each. Then alternately add flour mixture by fourths and milk by thirds to the creamed mixture. Beat until batter is smooth.

Turn batter into prepared pans and bake 30 minutes until cake is done. When cool, ice with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting.
