BILL'S PERFECT RICE-A-RONI | |
Many people seem to have problems getting Rice-a-Roni to come out fluffy rather than mushy. I used to never have a problem but it seems something had changed in my technique so I went back and read up on it. Here are my tips. 1 box Rice-a-Roni 2 cups water 1 to 2 tbsp. butter (no substitutes!) Use real butter for browning. Browning takes longer than you might think and is crucial to having it come out right. Be patient. It will take on a certain smell sort of like popcorn and the mixture takes on a different look when it browns sufficiently. Use a pan with a fairly tight top to hold in the steam to cook the rice. Do not open until its time! They really do make the difference in mushy vs fluffy! Submitted by: Bill |
