DUMPLINGS 
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. shortening

Work the shortening into the flour, baking powder and salt mixture. Add milk all at once, stirring as little as possible. Drop by teaspoonfuls into chicken broth, cover and simmer over low heat 12 to 15 minutes. Do not remove them until done, this is the secret for fluffy dumplings.
