ITALIAN BREAD STICKS 
3 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter, softened
1 cake yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1 c. lukewarm water

Combine flour, sugar and salt in bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add yeast mixture and 1 cup lukewarm water to flour mixture, mixing well. Let rise for 45 minutes.

Punch dough down. Divide into 4 portions. Roll each piece into 12-inch rope. Cut each rope into 12-14 pieces. Roll as thin as pencil. Place on greased baking sheet. Let rise for 20-30 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
