LIZZIE LEE'S CABBAGE 
1 head cabbage
Piece of side meat or ham (about the size of a lg. apple)

Wash and quarter head of cabbage. Cut out the stalk. Cook meat in boiling water until meat is done (about 2 hours). Cook cabbage in the water until tender. Take up the cabbage and drain (reserve the liquor). Press out all water from cabbage. Pour liquor back into pot. Add 1/2 teaspoon sugar to cabbage and chop up the cabbage real good. Spoon grease of liquor over cabbage.
