DATE BALLS 
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. chopped dates
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. Rice Krispies
Flaked coconut
Chopped nuts, optional

Mix together the sugar, butter, dates, egg and vanilla. Cook slowly until thick. Remove from heat and add the Rice Krispies. Mix well and let cool. Grease hands and roll mixture into balls. Roll them in coconut. Chopped nuts may also be added to this mixture before cooking.
