FLOWERS AND BUTTERFLIES
Add a little whimsey to lunchtime and serve frankfurters in fun-to-eat shapes. Frozen bread dough bakes up around the franks to form a roll. You can make eight flowers, eight butterflies, or a combination of both. The recipe is the same for both - you just the franks different.

Preparation time: 20 minutes. Rising time: 10 t 15 minutes. Baking time: 15 minutes.

1 loaf (1 lb.) frozen white bread dough, thawed according to pkg. directions
4 frankfurters
2 tbsp. milk
Sesame or poppy seeds (optional)
Mustard or ketchup

1. Grease baking sheets. Cut bread dough into 32 equal pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a ball. Place four balls, slightly touching, in a square on baking sheet.

2. To make flowers, cut frankfurters in half crosswise. Cut a deep X through round ends of frank, cutting almost to the cut end. Place frankfurter, cut end down, in the center of dough balls. Repeat with remaining dough and frankfurters.

3. To make butterflies, cut frankfurters in half crosswise. Starting at the flat end, cut about a third of the way down toward rounded end, cutting all the way through the frankfurter to form antennae. Lay frankfurter lengthwise through center of dough balls. Repeat with remaining dough and frankfurters.

4. Let rise 10 to 15 minutes. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Using a pastry brush; brush dough with milk and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds, if desired. Bake 10 to 15 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before serving. Serve with mustard or ketchup. Yield: 8 servings.
