QUICK NEVER FAIL YEAST ROLLS 
3 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. shortening
3 c. flour
1 egg
1 c. milk, scalded
1 tsp. salt
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 tsp. sugar

Soften yeast in the lukewarm water with sugar. Let stand 10 minutes. Add sugar, salt and shortening to hot milk; stir and cool to lukewarm. Combine softened yeast with cool milk mixture and stir well. Add egg and flour; beat until smooth. Cover and let rise 30 minutes. Add 1/2 cup more flour; knead. Roll out and cut with butter; fold over with butter in center. Let rise 30 to 40 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 12 (3") rolls. Dough will be soft.
