1 c. finely chopped dates 1 c. finely chopped nuts 2 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 2 eggs, separated 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. whipped cream or Cool Whip Sprinkle a little warm water on chopped dates. Heat oven to 275 degrees. Place dates and nuts in bowl and sift flour and baking powder over them. Add slightly beaten egg yolks and flavoring. In another bowl and salt to egg whites. Beat slowly until stiff and fold into date mixture. Pour mixture into an 8 x 8 x 2 inch pan. Bake at either 275 degrees for 45 minutes or at 350 degrees for 20 minutes (325 degrees for glass pan). Allow to cool before cutting into 8-16 servings. Top with whipped cream. |
