COCOA PECAN TORTE 
2/3 c. butter
1 1/2 c. ground pecans
1 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. almond flavoring
Dash of salt
3 slightly beaten eggs
1/2 c. chilled whipping cream
1 tbsp. powdered sugar
12 whole pecans

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Grease round 8" x 1 1/2" pan.

3. Heat butter in 2 quart saucepan until melted then remove.

4. Stir in ground pecans, granulated sugar, cocoa, almond flavoring, salt and eggs. Pour into pan.

5. Bake until toothpick placed in center comes out clean, 25 to 28 minutes.

6. Cool 10 minutes, remove, let cool completely.

7. Beat whip cream and powdered sugar in chilled 1 1/2 quart bowl until stiff.

8. Spread on top of cake.

9. Arrange pecans around cake. 12 servings.
