MICROWAVE CARAMELS 
1 c. butter
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
Dash salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Place butter in a large glass bowl. Microwave 1 minute on low to melt. Blend in brown sugar, syrup, milk and salt. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave 10 minutes on high; stir well. Microwave uncovered 11 minutes on medium low or until candy reaches soft ball stage. Mix in vanilla and pour into a greased 12x7 inch baking dish. Cool to room temperature before cutting. If you microwave the candy uncovered 16-18 minutes until it becomes a darker brown it can be poured on a greased metal pan and broken into pieces for toffee.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
