1 lb. ground beef, more or less
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
From meat seasoned to taste, form small patties about the size of silver dollars; actually flattened meatballs. (Grated onion and green pepper may be added if desired, or dehydrated onion soup mix. If meat is too dry, add egg and milk.) Brown these patties on both sides in frying pan in a little cooking oil or in the broiler. Mix up a can of condensed cream of mushroom soup with 1/3 to 1/2 can of water and pour over the browned meat patties still in the frying pan on medium heat.
Gently raise the patties with a spatula and mix the mushroom sauce thoroughly together with the meat juices. Simmer gently about 10 minutes. (Dehydrated onion soup mix may be added to the gravy mixture instead of to the meat mixture, if desired.) Server over steamed rice, mashed potatoes, buttered noodles or toast points.
