BLONDE BROWNIES 
2 2/3 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. butter
1 box light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. walnuts (optional)
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the nuts and half the chocolate chips. Spread the batter in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.

Sprinkle the rest of the chocolate chips evenly on top of the batter and press down gently. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes until the top is just browned. Cool and cut into squares.
