APPLE - NUT COFFEE CAKE 
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 apple, chopped
1/2 c. sour cream
1/4 c. nuts
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Grease a 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan.

In medium bowl, stir together dry ingredients. In large bowl, beat together sugar and shortening until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla until well mixed. Stir half flour mixture into sugar mixture. Stir in sour cream. Stir in rest of flour mixture. Stir in chopped apple. Spread in greased pan. Mix brown sugar, butter, cinnamon and nuts. Sprinkle over coffee cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
