HEARTY BEEF SOUP 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked
1/4 c. milk
1 egg
1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can condensed beef broth
1 c. water
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/3 c. chopped green bell pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)

In 4 quart saucepan or Dutch oven, combine ground beef, oats, milk, and egg; mix well. Cook until meat is browned about 10 minutes; drain. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Cover; simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with cheese, if desired. About six (1 cup) servings.
