HEARTY HAMBURGER SOUP 
1-2 lbs. ground beef
1 lg. onion
4 sliced carrots
4 stalks celery, 1/2" pieces
3 1/2 c. can tomatoes
1 qt. water
1 sm. bay leaf
1/2 tsp. thyme
1/2 tsp. basil
1/4 tsp. dill weed
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. brown or white rice
4 potatoes, diced
1/2 sm. head cabbage (opt.)

Brown beef and onion together and drain fat. Add carrots, celery, tomatoes and water to meat and bring to boil. Add rice and simmer 30 minutes. Add potatoes, herbs and spices and cook until done. Add sliced cabbage about 5 minutes before serving.
