1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. lemon extract 2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/8 tsp. salt Sugar for rolling Cream sugar and shortenings together until light and fluffy. Add egg and flavorings. Beat well. Sift flour, soda, salt and cream of tartar. Stir gradually into creamed mixture. Chill well. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place 1 inch apart on greased baking sheet. Flatten balls by pressing with bottom of a glass. Bake at 350 degrees in preheated oven for 10 minutes or until golden. |
