PORTUGESE DONUTS 
1/4 c. lukewarm water
1 tbsp. butter
1 egg
1/8 tsp. each salt, mace, cinnamon, nutmeg
1 pkg. yeast
2 tbsp. sugar
2 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in water. Let set for a while. Blend butter, sugar, flour and yeast, and spices in large bowl. Cover and let rise until double in bulk. For each donut dip small ball of dough in LARD not oil. Cook at 350 degrees until golden brown. Roll in more sugar.
