SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 pkg. dried split peas
3 med. carrots
3 med. to lg. potatoes
1 tsp. celery seed
2 or 2 1/2 lbs. grated ham
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pepper
2 tsp. garlic powder

Cook all ingredients in large pot with 4-5 quarts of water. Cook about 4 or 5 hours, stirring often. Soup will thicken. When done, add 2 cups of milk and 1 stick of butter.
