ITALIAN ANISE SLICES 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. anise flavor
3 lg. eggs
1 c. sliced almonds

Cream butter, sugar, anise flavor. Beat eggs, one at a time. Add flour mixture and almonds. Knead gently on floured board until smooth. Divide dough in half. Shape roll in 1" diameter. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until firm to touch, 20 minutes. Remove from oven and cool slightly. While still warm, cut crosswise into 1/2" slices. Place on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until toasted, 15 to 20 minutes. Turn once to brown.
