AUNT MAE'S OLD FASHIONED WALNUT
TARTS
 
TART SHELLS:

1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour

FILLING:

1 egg
2/3 c. light brown sugar, packed
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 c. chopped raisins
1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
1 1/4 c. chopped walnuts

Have all ingredients at room temperature. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

SHELLS: In a bowl, blend butter, cream cheese and flour until mixture can be shaped into a ball. Divide into quarters, then shape each quarter into 6 balls. Press each ball into bottom and sides of miniature muffin pans.

FILLING: In a bowl, beat egg, brown sugar and butter until creamy; stir in vanilla. Add raisins, walnuts and orange peel and combine well.

Spoon mixture evenly into unbaked shells. Bake on lowest rack at 350 degrees about 25 minutes. Makes 2 dozen tarts.
