6 c. Special "K" cereal 1 c. Karo syrup 1 c. chocolate bits 1 c. sugar 1 c. peanut butter 1 c. butterscotch bits Butter a very large bowl and a 13x9 pan. Put cereal into buttered pan, set aside. Put sugar and Karo syrup in saucepan and mix well, bring to a rolling boil, remove from heat, add peanut butter and mix until creamy. Pour this over cereal and mix well, press gently into 13x9 pan, set aside. Over double boiler, or in microwave, melt chocolate and butterscotch bits together (do not beat, just mix until blended). Pour over cereal mixture and spread evenly. Let cool before eating, if you can, but they are fun to eat while they are warm and messy too. My sister found this recipe 30 years ago on the back of a cereal box and we have made it a must for all our family gatherings since then. My mother especially loves them!!! |
