SPICY PITA SANDWICHES 
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 (1 1/4 oz.) pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 c. water
1 (8 1/4 oz.) can refried beans
4 pita bread rounds (5 1/2 inch diameter) halved
3/4 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (3 oz.)
1 c. shredded lettuce
1 sm. tomato, chopped
Taco sauce

In skillet brown beef and onion, drain off excess fat. Add taco seasoning and water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Stir in refried beans. Spoon about 1/4 cup of the mixture into each pita half.

Place, open side up, in a 10 x 6 x 2 inch baking dish. Top with cheese and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Top each sandwich with lettuce and tomato. Use taco sauce if desired.
