ITALIAN SAUSAGE ROLL 
2 lbs. Italian sausage
4 tbsp. oil
3 green peppers
1 lg. onion
8 oz. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 egg
1 lb. bread or pizza dough

Fry sausage until brown and drain. Cut up peppers and onion, and fry until tender. Drain. Roll out dough to size of cookie sheet. Place sausage, peppers and onions on dough. Sprinkle with cheese. Roll up like jelly roll, tucking in both ends. Baste top with well-beaten egg and bake in 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until very brown.

Almost like my Italian grandma's recipe. I add the egg to the mix to help bind the ingredients so they don't fall out when you slice the roll. Also, I like adding spices - onion powder, garlic powder and fennel seeds if it lacks these seeds. I also add paprika. I reserve the drippings from the sausage and pour them over the roll rather than use egg. I think it gives a better taste. same cooking time, although ovens vary and wait til golden brown and ends bubble.
