GUMDROP SQUARES 
1 1/3 c. applesauce
2 env. unflavored gelatin
1 pkg. (6 oz.) Jello, any flavor
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. bottled lemon juice
Sugar

Mix applesauce, gelatin, Jello, 2 cups sugar and lemon juice in saucepan. Heat to boiling and boil 1 minute, stirring frequently. Fill loaf pan halfway to the top with cold water. Pour the water out, then immediately pour the gelatin mixture into the wet pan, using a rubber scraper to clean the side of saucepan.

When the loaf pan is cool enough to touch, refrigerate about 3 hours or until candy is firm. Cut the candy into 1 inch squares. (Dip the knife in glass of water to keep the candy from sticking.) Lift each square from the pan onto ungreased cookie sheet. Let stand at least 8 hours onto ungreased cookie sheet. Let stand at least 8 hours to dry. Roll each square in sugar, coating all sides. Makes 45 squares.
