OLD FASHIONED BROWN BREAD | |
5 lbs. whole wheat flour and white flour to make a good mixture 1 tbsp. salt 2 c. molasses 1 c. vegetable oil 5 pkgs. yeast, dissolved plus 4 c. warm water and milk as needed Use large electric-Kitchen Aid mixer or large bowl. Stir water, milk, salt, oil, molasses and yeast mixture. In lightly greased bowl put dough in a covered bowl and let rise 2 hours. Do not knead dough. Optional - raisins may be added if worked into the dough if you are baking a pan of rolls. Bake in oven at 300 degrees. Muffins 20 minutes. Large loaves 30 minutes. Small loaves 20-25 minutes. Mae West Loaf - Twin loaf in large pan that can be separated for testing for baking time. Different size loaves need different timing. |
