NELL'S FAVORITE APPLE PIE 
CRUST:

2 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt

Add just enough water to make a ball of dough. Flour some waxed paper, and divide dough in half. Using 1/2 of dough, flour the top lightly. Cover with waxed paper and roll as thinly as possible. Place in 9 inch pie pan.

Pare and slice enough apples to make a fat pie.

FILLING:

5 or 6 apples
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. white sugar
Pinch of salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. cream or evaporated milk
1 tbsp. milk

Mix sugar, salt, spices, flour and butter thoroughly. Crumble over apples. Add milk and cream slowly.

Cover with strips of dough made from remaining half of dough. Brush milk on strips. Sprinkle small amount of mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 450 degrees or until apples are tender.
