NEVER FAIL MERINGUE 
1 tbsp. cornstarch
6 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 c. water
Dash of salt

Cook these 4 ingredients over medium heat until mixture is clear. Cool this mixture before proceeding to the next step. Beat 3 egg whites until frothy. Continue beating while slowly pouring the cooked and cooled mixture into the eggs. Beat until egg whites peak. Place meringue over pie, such as lemon meringue, and bake for 8 minutes at 400 degrees.
