MILES' PLUM TORTE 
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. sweet butter
1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 pinch of salt
2 eggs
24 halves pitted purple (Italian) plums

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar, butter; add flour, baking powder, salt and eggs. Spoon into spring form 8 to 10 inches in size. Place plums skin side up on top. Sprinkle with sugar and lemon juice, 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake approximately 1 hour. Cool. Refrigerate or freeze until ready to serve. If frozen, double wrap in foil, place in plastic bag. Defrost heat at 300 degrees briefly.
