PLUM TORTE 
1/2 c. unsalted butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
24 halves pitted purple plums

Combine sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon for topping.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Cream sugar and butter - add flour, baking powder and eggs - beat well - spoon batter into spring-form pan (8 x 10 inches).

Place plum halves, skin side up on top of batter, sprinkle lightly with sugar and lemon juice; sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake 1 hour. Remove and cool. Serve with whipped cream.

May use peaches, apples, or cranberries (but peel apples). Plums sink to bottom. May be frozen.
