PLUM CONSERVE | |
2 lbs. purple plums 1 orange 1/2 c. walnuts, chopped fine 1 box Sure-Jell 7 c. sugar 1/2 - 1 c. raisins 2 c. water Halve, pit and chop fine plums. Seed orange and chop fine (with rind). Add 2 cups water and simmer 20 minutes. Add plums. Measure 4 1/2 cups prepared fruit into large pan. Add Sure-Jell and raisins and stir well. Place over low heat. Bring to boil, stirring constantly. Add sugar and bring to rolling boil. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add nuts; stir and skim 5 minutes. Put into sterilized glasses. Seal with paraffin. Makes about 5 pints. |
