2 1/2 c. flour 1 tbsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 c. shortening 1 egg, separated Milk 2/3 c. cornflakes 5 c. sliced apples 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon Sift together flour, sugar and salt. Cut in shortening as for pie crust. Put egg yolk in cup and add milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to flour mixture and mix just enough so dough shapes into ball. Roll out 1/2 of dough to 15x11 inches. Transfer to a 9x13 pan. Cover dough with cornflakes, add apple slices. Mix sugar and cinnamon. Cover over apples. Roll out top crust and cover as for pie. Beat egg white until stiff and spread on crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 40 minutes. When still warm, drizzle frosting over top crust with a fork. FROSTING: 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1 tbsp. lemon juice |
