FRENCH LACE COOKIES 
1 c. all purpose flour
1 c. finely chopped nuts
1/2 c. shortening
2/3 c. brown sugar, packed
1/2 c. corn syrup

Heat to 375 degrees. Blend flour with nuts. Bring corn syrup, shortening, and sugar to boil in saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; gradually stir in flour and nuts.

Drop batter by level teaspoon about 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. (Bake 6 cookies at a time.) Bake 5 to 6 minutes; remove from oven and roll around dowel (or spoon handle) quickly. Cool on rack. (Can reheat if cookie gets to brittle to roll.) May dip in melted chocolate when cooled.
