BAKED BEANS | |
1 lb. Navy beans 1 tsp. baking soda 4 to 5 slices onion 1/2 lb. salt pork, sliced 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. dark molasses 2 tsp. dry mustard Pepper Soak beans overnight in cold water. The next morning, parboil about 5 minutes with baking soda added to water. Drain and rinse. Cover bottom of slow cooker with slices of onion and 2 slices of salt pork. Top with beans and rest of salt pork. Place molasses, dry mustard, brown sugar and pepper on top. Pour hot water over beans to cover. Slow cook 6 to 8 hours. Add more water if necessary. |
