BAKED APPLES | |
6 med. red cooking apples 3/4 c. granulated sugar 1 c. water 2 tbsp. sugar Heat oven to 350 degrees. Wash and core apples. Starting at stem end, pare apples one third of way down. Arrange in shallow baking pan with pared side up. Boil 3/4 cup sugar with 1 cup water 10 minutes. Pour over apples. Bake apples 1/2 to 1 hour or until easily pierced with fork, spooning syrup from pan over them frequently. When apples are tender, remove from oven; sprinkle each with 1 teaspoon sugar. Broil under low heat, basting often until brown. Serve cold or warm, as is or with cream, whipped cream or ice cream. |
