CANDIED APPLES 
2 c. water
1 c. sugar
Several drops of red food coloring
3 lg. cooking apples

Combine water, sugar, and red food coloring. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes. Peel, core, and quarter apples. Add apples to sugar syrup and cook gently for 5-7 minutes, or until transparent and tender. Remove apples and pour syrup over apples. Serve warm or cold.

NOTE: Pleasing in color and flavor, these sweet apples are especially good for garnishing meats.
