DUTCH CREAMED ONIONS | |
6 large onions 2-4 slices bacon 1 egg 1 c. milk 1/2 tsp. salt and white pepper Peel and slice onions, cook five minutes in a very small amount of water. Drain. (I save this water and freeze and use in soup at a later date.) Cube bacon and saute crisp. Place a spoonful of bacon grease in bottom of baking dish, then layer of onions and layer of bacon until it is all used. Mix egg with milk and salt and pepper and pour over mixture. Bake moderate oven 375 degrees until mixture is set. |
