GARLIC CROUTONS 
1 loaf of French bread
2 garlic cloves, peeled
2 tbsp. olive oil
Freshly ground pepper to taste

Preheat broiler. Rub the bread's crust all over with the garlic cloves. Cut the bread into 1/2 inch thick slices and sprinkle one side with the olive oil and pepper.

Place the bread slices on a baking sheet under the broiler until they are golden. Turn and broil on the other side until brown. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
