GRANDMA'S SPECIAL POUND CAKE | |
1 c. butter (room temp.) 3 c. sugar Pinch of salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. mace 3 c. all purpose flour 1/3 c. shortening 5 eggs 1 tsp. baking powder 1 c. milk 1 tsp. lemon extract Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Combine dry ingredients. Add dry ingredients, and milk alternately to creamed mixture, heating after each addition. Add flavorings and mace. Pour into greased and floured tube or bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Remove from pan after 10 minutes. This recipe has been handed down for 4 generations. |
