 Nicole says:
I found how long you need to cook it depends on the starting temperature of your ingredients. If you start with refrigerator temperature it will take much longer to cook.

 Anne (Tennessee) says:
Also probably depends on your casserole dish size... Use 9x13-inch and it will cook evenly in 35 minutes :)

this sounds great. has anyone ever used "Egg Beaters" or all egg whites in this recipe? i am a rookie at cooking so forgive me if this is a silly question. =)

I have made a similar breakfast cassarole for years. Works well to prepare it the night before and leave it in the fridge (covered) overnight before baking. Adding a couple of teaspoons of mustard to the egg mixture will give it a nice flavour and make it come out fluffier. Sauteed chopped onion is also a nice addition. Don't overcook or it will be dry. Let sit for 10-15 mins before serving.

I substituted Bisquick mix instead of the bread, and added 1 shredded potato. I used a few slices of velveeta cheese and layered under the meat. The only seasoning I used was an envelope of Lipton Golden Onion Recipe Secrets. Baked for 35 minutes and it was delicious.

I'm trying this with tater tots instead of bread. I haven't seen many of these breakfast casseroles using potatoes.

 Debbie (Missouri) says:
I used hot pork sausage, 9 eggs, double the cheese, and chopped green pepper instead of the mushrooms. 35 minutes was enough time for mine.

When preparing this recipe you will need to use a 12 X 9 cake pan or glass dish.

I tried it once in a casserole dish and it takes hours.

I use the square hash browns in the bottom instead of bread...turns out well... a little more filling.

Great recipe! Easy to make and convert pending what you have available to make it. I did as another mentioned and used 9 eggs, doubled the cheese (for a creamy version I used velveeta, but preferred sharp cheddar) omitted the mushrooms, added onion flakes, tbsp. mustard and some seasoned salt instead of regular salt, and pepper. I also used home grown bacon and sausage. It made for the most delicious casserole I have ever made. Cooked in 35 minutes in a 9x13 with no problem. Thanks!

Very simple and tasty! Baking time is accurate for a 9 x 13 baking dish. I used 8 eggs and 2 cups milk and was so fluffy.

Use cinammon bread instead and mild cheese rather than sharp. It's awesome.

I used Pillsbury biscuits on the bottom making sure they touch. Then made a batter of eggs, sausage, cheese, mushrooms and onions, didn't take no 35 minutes either. Try it.
