EASIEST & BEST HOMEMADE ALFREDO
SAUCE

This by far is the easiest and best Alfredo sauce recipe I have found yet! I love pasta and Alfredo and searched forever to make it homemade. I think that too many recipes have too many ingredients and that others are too watery. My girlfriend loves it and makes me cook it at least once a week.. plus you can add it to so many different things! This is a great, simple recipe to make for someone coming over for a dinner date ;)

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon garlic powder (optional)
pepper, to taste

1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter.

2. Once butter is almost melted, add the package of cream cheese. It's easiest to cut it into 4 pieces so that it melts quicker.

3. Once butter and cream cheese are mixed well together, add the cup of half and half, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and then shake pepper on top. Stir all together until well mixed.

4. Once it's mixed well and sauce-like, take it off the burner and set aside so it can thicken up. Stir every few moments.

5. DONE! Pour over your favorite pasta, I love it with tortellini!

Don't forget some bread-sticks to dip in the extra sauce! :)

Easiest & Best Homemade Alfredo Sauce

It was so much better than the stuff you get in a jar at the store. It was cool because at first it didn't look like anything edible and then all of a sudden after you add that Half and Half it comes to life. Also I added some shredded mozzarella, some cottage cheese, and used some chives and oregano as spices. Very very good. This far exceeded my expectations

Love this. I've made it a few times and am making it again tonight. I add shrimp, mushrooms and spinach and pour over tortellini. Very easy and cheap!

Excellent and easy recipe. Was craving Fettuccine Alfredo, but my boyfriend wasn't a fan of it. Made this recipe, and his plate was empty before mine. NOTE... I pulled out the mixer for the butter and cream cheese, as it was very lumpy. Emptied from sauce pan into mixer and it was perfectly creamy, then added half and half and then back into the sauce pan to complete. Yummy!

I never send reviews but had to on this one. It was great and super easy. Wanted to do seafood alfredo for ash wednesday and this made a great meal. I too do not like the jars of sauce and prefer homemade. This took few ingredients and family loved it.

You can kick this up a notch by replacing 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese with 1/3 cup of Romano Cheese and fresh parsley.

This was delicious! The only thing was it didn't say how long it takes to make, so we had to kind of guess to make sure that the pasta was done at the same time. Both me and my husband thought this recipe was better than any jar alfredo! MMMMMMM!

This recipe was very easy and tasty! I was thoroughly impressed with the simplicity of this sauce. I used it for my first Valentine's Day with my boyfriend. I made a few minor changes, which is why I only gave four stars. I used a pint of half and half instead of one cup. It made far more sauce without taking away any flavor. For the parmesan, I used a slightly more expensive natural parmesan (not the white powdery kind in the shaker).I also used a little extra garlic powder, to taste. Lastly, I melted in a handful of shredded mozzerella cheese. The sauce thickened up beautifully and was absolutely delicious!
I served it over Fettucinni noodles with shrimp and garlic bread. After one serving, my boyfriend said he was so full that his sides hurt, but that the Alfredo was so delicious he had to eat more! I will never again buy Alfredo sauce from a jar!!

For years I have been making the alfredo sauce out of a bag and my picky little sister has always complained about it. Finally I decided to look up a recipe for a homemade alfredo sauce, I found this one and everyone at the table completely loved it!!! It is the best alfredo sauce I personally have ever tasted.

Substituted fresh dairy whey from Kefir which seems to be just right amount oily / milk texture with 2 tbsp. Kefir, small pat of butter, added parsley, garlic, pepper, tasted delicious on rice noodles baked in the oven. 5 children liked it with lightly-baked chicken and steamed Normandy blend vegetables.

I'm a little late posting on this one, but wanted to add just a tid-bit or two! My best friend grew up without a Mother and is often timid or lost in the kitchen; I directed her to this 'cream cheese Alfredo' recipe, and it helped her out a lot. This type of recipe (as others commented) is for folks who are not too savvy in the ROUX department (flour and liquid or flour and fat mixed or cooked CAREFULLY together; ie. complicated, for many), or for folks looking for kid-friendly versions of classic dishes. My hubby loves Alfredo, but is no chef, so I taught him a simple recipe which does not require a roux- pretty much just heavy cream and Parmesan, a bit of garlic or whatever spices your family likes- cook slow or microwave stirring often until it is the desired consistency. You CAN play with the recipe! Be brave!

ALSO- I am almost 100% sure the author of the above recipe INTENDED to say 1 TEASPOON of garlic powder, not 1 TBSP!!! Kitchen types would catch this, but unsuspecting culinary novices, beware!!! Watch those measurements! And people, please, PLEASE stop trying to DE-FAT recipes like this! Alfredo is simply NOT a diet food... Meant to be a very rich sauce served in moderation! Enjoy less often instead of making a pasty, flavorless, skim-milk "goop". (Margarine?!!! SHEESH!) Good luck!

This recipe is easy and delicious. As a variation on lasagna I used this sauce and mixed vegetables instead of tomato sauce, and I got rave reviews from my friends at church. Thanks!

This recipe is GREAT!! Being an Asian, it's not easy for me cook the perfect Alfredo. Not mentioning... Getting confused with all different kinds of cheese n creams on the shelves. Now, I'm glad those have passed. Ingredients used were simple n easy to find in my country too :)
