FRENCH APPLE FRITTERS 
1 egg
3/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. melted butter
1 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder

Mix together the egg, milk and butter. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to egg mixture. Stir well and set aside. 3 tbsp. sugar 1 tbsp. rum 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Peel and core apples. Slice 1/2 inch thick. Mix rum with vanilla and pour over apples. Sprinkle 1 tbsp. sugar over them. Turn and repeat. Let stand one hour. Drain any juices formed into the batter. Stir well.

Dip a few apple slices at a time into the batter and fry in deep hot fat until golden brown. Drain and single layer them in a baking pan. Sprinkle remaining sugar over them and put in a 450 degree oven for five minutes. Serve warm. Serves 6.
