DON'T TRIFLE WITH A MOOSE IN THE BLACK FOREST | |
I call this "The Canadian version of English trifle". slightly dry chocolate cake Kahlua (coffee liqueur) cherry preserves or cherry pie filling (your choice) chocolate mousse (you can use chocolate pudding mixed with Dream Whip) whipped cream, for garnish chocolate shavings, for garnish Bake a chocolate cake the day before serving. Leave it to dry out before using. Place slices of cake in bottom of trifle dish cut side up. Sprinkle cake with Kahlua. Spread cherry preserves or pie filling on cake. Top with a layer of mousse. Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Note: Although components should be made in advance, this should be served within a few hours of assembly or the Kahlua loses its kick!
