STRAWBERRY NUT SALAD | |
2 pkg. strawberry flavored gelatin 1 c. boiling water 2 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen sliced strawberries, thawed 1 lb. 4 oz. can crushed pineapple 3 med. bananas, mashed 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts 1 pt. commercial sour cream 1 head lettuce Day before. 1. In large kettle combine gelatin with boiling water, stirring until gelatin is dissolved, then fold in all at once, strawberries with juice, drained pineapple, bananas and walnuts. 2. Turn half of strawberry mixture into 12 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish as first layer. Refrigerate until firm about an hour and a half. Evenly spread top with sour cream. Gently spoon rest of strawberry mixture; refrigerate. Just before serving next day; cut dish of strawberry salad into 12 squares. Heap crisp lettuce leaves in bowl nearby. Let guests serve themselves. Makes 12 servings. |
